ABOUT THE GRE

The graduate record examination (GRE) is a major step in the application process for a graduate school or a business school. GRE is an automated, standardised multiple choice exam, which is often required to be admitted to graduate and graduate programmes (MBAs) around the world.

The sections quantitative reasoning and verbal reasoning are each evaluated on a scale from 130 to 170. The average value for verbal reasoning is at 151 and the average value for quantitative reasoning is at 153. The evaluation of the analytical writing takes place in half point steps from 0 up to 6, and the average value is 4.0.

The analytical writing assessment or essay section measures whether your thoughts and reactions to complex ideas can be articulated clearly and thoughtfully. Formulation of a well-founded thesis as an answer to new and unusual themes and key to success in analytical writing.

During the two separate analytical writing tasks, you are asked to:“Analyze an Issue”and “Analysis of an argument.” In the task “Analysis of a problem,” you will read a statement on a subject of common interest and receive instructions on how you should react to the problem at hand. When performing an argument analysis task, you must consider an argument as instructed in the prompt.
